Revealed Exhibition

6th May 2023 - 23 July 2023

Fremantle Arts Centre
1 Finnerty Street
Fremantle WA 6160

The Revealed Exhibition is a platform that showcases works by new and emerging Indigenous artists living and working in Western Australia. I was fortunate to participate in this exhibition, sharing the space with some truly amazing artists.

I submitted a body of work that reflects my journey of coming to terms with isolation, seclusion, and the vast physical distance from home. The collection depicts a progression from the realisation that I’m all alone and longing to return home, to a sense of acceptance and appreciation for where I am and what I have.

Together, the four artworks tell a story that flows from one artwork to the next. It begins with It’s Just Me.

It’s Just Me
This piece reflects a time during the global pandemic when strict border restrictions were in place. I felt very isolated, unable to travel the vast distance to see my family. This artwork emphasises that divide and the profound sense of loneliness I experienced.

Unlike The Goobang
As the border restrictions are extended, this artwork depicts a longing for home, with memories of the Goobang National Park that form the backdrop of my hometown. It serves as a reflection, a comparison of landscapes, highlighting the stark differences between where I am and where I’m from.

Tangent
This piece represents a shift in my circumstances after border restrictions were temporarily lifted, allowing me to briefly return home. It marks the beginning of a fresh outlook on where I am and where I’m heading.

Sunsets Over Water
This artwork depicts my growing acceptance and appreciation for the landscape where I now live. Where the sunsets over the water. While it’s not home, it is still a place that provides me with amazing opportunities, and I began to appreciate the beauty in it.

Inside This Box Exhibition

15th - 25th Feb 2023

The Corner Store Gallery
382 Summer Street
Orange NSW 2800

The Inside This Box Exhibition invites artists to submit works of any shape that fit within the dimensions of 30cmx30cm. I was fortunate enough to be selected to feature in the annual group exhibition.

I submitted a piece titled Sunset on the Floor. It’s a simple piece inspired by the view of the sunset across the paddock at my parents’ place. The artwork captures the warm purple and orange hues that cast a filter across the landscape as the sun begins to dip below the horizon.

I was unable to attend opening night, but I did take advantage of the online exhibition. There were so many amazing works. I ended up purchasing a lovely piece by Vicki Potter.

Incognito Art Show

13th - 14th Jul 2024

Incognito Art Show
410 Oxford Street
Paddington NSW 2021

The Incognito Art Show is a unique and exciting event where hundreds of artists, both emerging and established, anonymously submit original postcard-sized artworks. The twist is that the identity of the artist is kept secret until after the work is purchased, allowing art lovers to discover new talent and acquire original pieces at an affordable price, all while supporting a good cause. It's a celebration of creativity and community, offering a fun and accessible way to engage with the art world.

I was fortunate enough to submit three artworks, and in an effort to remain incognito, I tried not to reveal my figurative signature. I tried my best to paint myself as small as possible, hidden within each piece.
